Double & Triple Glazing Installed by a Local, Family-Run Team

Double and triple glazing are a smart investment for any home or business, offering better insulation, security and energy savings. Keystone Glazing has been installing energy-efficient windows across West Sussex and the Hampshire border for more than 25 years – from a single replacement window to a full house of new windows and doors.

We fit standard A-rated double glazing, high-performance 32mm units and full triple glazing, and we’ll give you honest advice on which makes sense for your home and budget.

Every installation is surveyed, made to measure and fitted by our own experienced team, then certified through CERTASS so you know it meets building regulations.

Double, High-Performance and Triple Glazing

A-rated double glazing

Two panes of glass with an insulating gas-filled cavity and a warm-edge spacer. Modern A-rated double glazing is a huge step up from older windows and remains the best value for most homes.

High-performance 32mm units

Our answer to triple glazing: a thermally enhanced double unit with soft-coat low-E glass, argon gas and a deeper cavity. It rivals entry-level triple glazing and often fits existing modern frames, so you get most of the benefit without the cost and disruption. Read our answer to triple glazing.

Triple glazing

Three panes of glass and two insulating cavities give the lowest heat loss and the best noise reduction. Modern triple-glazed units can achieve U-values as low as 0.8 W/m²K. Triple glazing needs frames designed for the extra weight and depth, so it is usually fitted as part of new windows.

The Science Behind the Efficiency

Three numbers tell you how well a window performs:

  • U-value – how much heat escapes. The lower, the better. The centre pane figure is for the glass alone; the whole window figure (Uw) includes the frame and is the one that matters.
  • g-value – how much free heat from the sun passes through the glass.
  • Window Energy Rating (WER) – combines heat loss, solar gain and air leakage into a single A++ to G rating, like an appliance label.

Typical values for a uPVC window:

Glass unitLow-E coatingsCentre pane U-valueWhole window UwEnergy rating

28mm double, argon-filled11.21.3A
28mm triple, argon-filled11.31.4B
28mm triple, argon-filled21.01.1A
36mm triple, argon-filled20.81.1A++
44mm triple, argon-filled20.60.9A++

Units are W/m²K. Centre pane values to BS EN 673; figures are typical and vary by frame and glass supplier. Source: Glass and Glazing Federation, Triple Glazing Guidance.

What the figures show

  • Not all triple glazing is better. A triple unit with only one low-E coating performs worse than good argon-filled double glazing.
  • Triple glazing earns its place with two low-E coatings and wider cavities – a 44mm unit brings the whole window down to 0.9.
  • The frame matters too: the best glass can only bring the whole window so far, which is why we match the glass to the frame.

If you’re comparing quotes, ask for the whole-window U-value, the number of low-E coatings and the unit thickness – not just “double” or “triple”.

Which Is Right for Your Home?

There’s no single answer, which is why we look at each home before recommending anything:

  • If your frames are sound, upgrading to high-performance 32mm units can deliver most of the benefit of triple glazing at a fraction of the cost.
  • If you’re replacing every window anyway, triple glazing is worth pricing alongside double – especially on the coldest or noisiest sides of the house.
  • For new builds, extensions and low-energy or passive-house targets, triple glazing is often the right choice.
  • Near a busy road or the city centre, triple or acoustic glass gives the biggest drop in noise.

Triple Glazing in West Sussex

Our suppliers manufacture both double and triple glazed units, and demand for triple glazing is growing across West Sussex as energy prices rise and standards tighten. We can supply triple glazing in any window or door we fit – uPVC, aluminium, timber-look or timber – in the same styles and colours as our double glazing. See our windows for styles and finishes.

Why Choose Energy-Efficient Glazing?

  • Improved energy efficiency – reduce heat loss and lower energy bills.
  • Better security – toughened glass and secure multi-point locking.
  • Noise reduction – keep outside noise out for a quieter home.
  • Low maintenance and durability – long-lasting performance with minimal upkeep.
  • Added property value – improve kerb appeal and market value.

Energy-efficient windows keep your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer, which can significantly lower heating costs. Toughened glass and reinforced frames make them harder to break into, and in a busy area they act as an effective noise barrier. Read more about the benefits of double glazing.

Double & Triple Glazing Questions

Is triple glazing worth it?

It depends on your home. Triple glazing gives the lowest heat loss and the best noise reduction, and is often worth it for new windows on cold, noisy or exposed sides of the house. Where frames are sound, our 32mm high-performance units can deliver most of the benefit for less.

Can I put triple glazing in my existing frames?

Usually not. Triple-glazed units are thicker and heavier, so they need frames designed for them. High-performance 32mm units often fit existing modern frames instead.

Is all triple glazing more efficient than double glazing?

No. A triple unit needs two low-E coatings and wide enough cavities to beat good double glazing. A 28mm triple unit with one coating gives a whole-window U-value of about 1.4 – worse than the 1.3 of argon-filled double glazing – while a 44mm unit with two coatings reaches 0.9.

What is 32mm high-performance glass?

A thermally enhanced double-glazed unit with soft-coat low-E glass, argon gas and a deeper cavity. It sits between standard double glazing and triple glazing in performance. Read our answer to triple glazing.

How long does a double glazing installation take?

It depends on the number of windows and doors. A single door is usually fitted in one visit, and we will give you a clear timescale for larger jobs when we quote.

Is it worth replacing all my windows at once?

Replacing everything together gives a consistent look, the biggest improvement in warmth and security, and is usually better value than doing it piecemeal. We can also phase the work if you prefer.

Will my installation be certified?

Yes. We are CERTASS registered, so your installation is certified as meeting building regulations and you receive a certificate for your records.

What guarantees do you give?

A 10-year guarantee on our products, backed by an Insurance Backed Guarantee. Full guarantee details come with your quotation.

Do you install for businesses and landlords?

Yes. See our commercial glazing and trade glazing services.

Which areas do you cover?

We cover Chichester, Bognor Regis, Emsworth, Selsey, Felpham, Pagham, Barnham, Littlehampton, Arundel and the surrounding areas of West Sussex and the Hampshire border.
